New Projects Accomplished@Bishop

Sending Bleached Bones V4***
Our bouldering trip for Thanksgiving was Bishop.  We flew into LV which took 3 extra hours due to the rain but had enough time to have time with P before sleeping.  Thanks, P & G for letting us stay at your place. :)

We took off to Bishop early in the morning of 24th so that we can have a chance to get on some boulders in the afternoon.  However, it seemed like it snowed in Buttermilks the day before and could only get on some dry ones.
During the week, we climbed at Sad and Happy for the first 3 days which paid off; able to climb at Buttermilks afterwards.

I was planning to get on Birthday Direct V3*** which was my project from last year, and was able to get further but got stuck where my reach was extended.  Maybe I have to dead point the pinch... oh well...

Other problems I was aiming at were Bleached Bones V4** and Serengeti V5***.  Thanks to G & C's advice, I got Bleached Bones V4** with the awesome knee bar move and the nice crash pad shade!
Knee bar!
Perfect crash pad shade

Trying Serengeti V5***
Serengeti V5*** might be doable if I work on it, but I'll have to get used of the heel hook at that height!!

At Buttermilks when Yusuke was getting on Fly Boy Sit V8***, many people were trying the Fly Boy Arete V5** which looked easy so I hopped on.  I didn't have a chance to link the whole part because the sun went down but I finished it in 3 tries the next day.

The last problem I did on this trip was one that Yusuke kept recommending, King Tut V3***.  At first I couldn't figure out a small people move and the next time I tried it was too hot, so I went back after sunset and finished it in 1 try!

So glad that I got on some new problems and actually sent them!!

The Real Thing@Leavenworth

Got my first 3 star V4 at Leavenworth!!
Didn't ever think I would be able to finish it when I touched it last month and also because Yusuke said it was a hard one after he got it.
The most exciting part of this climb was that I found my way to the slopey gaston myself, but got stuck with a good left foot hold, and with Scott's advice, I made up a different move to get to his high foot hold and after that was so easy!!
I also tried Feel the Pinch V4*** and Fridge Center V4***, but need more training to finish those....  coming back to get you guys!!!

Portland Boulder Rally

3rd time in my life, I competed in a boulder competition.  1st time was in Japan when I was a super-beginner, 2nd was in New Jersey; came in 1st and won a pair of Sportiva climbing shoes.
This year, Portland Boulder Rally added a Master class for +35 years old, so I decided to participate in this class.  However, it came out that there were only 3 participants, which means that however I do, I will get a prize anyway.  BUT it wasn't the prize that I really wanted.  I needed the highest points to see how I would have competed in the other classes.
The competition was scored with the highest 5 points you got, and thanks to a good friend that gave me advice, I was able to flash a high score problem.  In this comp, how many attempts you do, the points will remain the same if you finish it (meaning that there are no deduction points), but the number of attempts will affect if its a tie.
Because there was a Youth class too, the problems were super good even for my size.  Every problem had a way to do it.

Even though I was 150 points away from 1st place, it looks like I was something around 5th place in Intermediate.  I did miss a high score problem that I wanted to get on, and actually finished it in 2 tries on the next day, but even with that problem(+100 points), I could never beat the winner.  I had a chance to talk to her and found out that she was not only older than me but started climbing at an older age than me.  I thought I was the only one(except my younger brother) who would start rock climbing at this age!
Overall, I was well prepared; starting hot yoga and training at the gym, and was able to give my best shot in all my climbs, so I am very satisfied and also even more motivated to climb now!

New Record@Leavenworth

Gatorade Bowling Balls V4**
2nd trip to Leavenworth was another hot weekend.  Despite the heat, Shiro had to wear his T-shirt or we would have to name him Blacky again...
Yusuke was crushing on this trip as usual and even finished a V9 in 3 tries which gave me motivation to get a 3 star V2, two V3s and my first V4 at Leavenworth!!

First Climb@Leavenworth, WA

Warming up on THE HUECO ROUTE V1***
We managed to go on our first outdoor bouldering trip to Leavenworth, WA on the weekend of Aug.16th and Aug.30th.

On our first trip, I only tried easy stuff because it was soooo long before we climbed outside, but at least I was glad to finish a V3.

Both trips we camped at a campsite nearby the center of Leavenworth; just beside the highway, convenient but noisy...  Good to have a clean shower though!
I loved the cute signs that were themed on a Bavarian Village, and of course we enjoyed the food and beer!

Shiro became Kuro-chan(meaning black) now... looks like the dirt was black, maybe because of the past fire?
Tried to wash Shiro, but this was the most he could get in!!

Moving in to Our New House

Since we did not have time to search for a house before moving to Vancouver Washington, we stayed in a hotel and I was the one in charge of finding our house to buy!  Yes!  We are buying a house for the first time!
We thought it might take more than a month to even find a house, but we were fortunate to come up against an affordable and upgraded cozy house.  However, there were some parts that we decided to work on, like painting, kitchen backsplash and removing the overgrown wisteria.
Painting primer
Everything was first time for us but thanks to the "how to" youtube videos and websites, we managed to finish our mission!

Digest of Last Climbs in the Northeast

It was hectic for the past month having my mother stay for 2 weeks, Yusuke getting a job in Washington and moving within 2 weeks of notice.  But knowing that we are moving out from the Northeast, we were desperate to go to places we haven't gone to climb.  Here are the places we last went;

Apr. 14, 2013 @ local area near home

Same faces when you're aiming at a small crimp!
Everyone looking at Yusuke's exciting climb!
Look at these overhangs!  Not suited for a beginner climber like me!
Betty...  posing for a shoot

Apr. 21 @ GUNKS Near Trapps

Having toooo much fun (i.e. drinks) with Glen staying over, I was hungover (or rather more still drunk) this day...
I tried to climb since it was our first time to climb with Rina but I just couldn't get the alcohol out and couldn't even finish a V1!

Apr. 24, 2013 @ IP area

Hopped on the tour that Charlie arranged since it was our first time there.  The problems were mostly too hard for me so I decided to join as a picture taker(not as good to call as a photographer!).

Apr. 27, 2013 @ Pawtuckaway
We decided to go to Pawtuckaway but the usual parking lot was not open yet and had to walk 20 min from the far side of the area so it was a late start this day.  Yusuke got on some problems and finished Maxim V7 but got stuck on Dopeman V8.

I on the other hand couldn't find any problem to project, so just got on and sent Cause for Commotion V2***and Ice Tea V3**.

May 4-5, 2013 @ Pawtuckaway

Since Yusuke was desperate to get Dopeman, we returned to Pawtuckaway with Yojiro.  Yusuke finished Dopeman with his first try, repeated Ride the Lightning V6 & Terrorist V6, and also got another V8, V5 and 2 other V4s.  What a sendage!!
Yo followed with a send on Atlas V6/7!  Congrats!

I just hopped on a Zap V3 which was impossible for me a year ago, but actually able to finish it this day!!

The next day, Yusuke suggested me to get on Power and Grace V3**.  At first, I couldn't even start but once I got it, I was even able to repeat this problem for filming ;p  However, this start move seems to be more than enough; looks like people (even Yusuke a year ago) start from the high left hand that I get for the first move!!
Yusuke was strong this day too.  He sent another V7, The Big Ocean V7****.
